Written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, Andre’s Mother is the story of Katherine Gerard (Sada Thompson, Pollock, Family) who has lost her son to AIDS. Set at Andre’s memorial service, the film follows Katherine’s journey as she confronts the death of her son, the anguish of his lover Cal Porter (Richard Thomas, Wonder Boys, The Waltons) and in flashbacks, the key moments of denial and miscommunication with those closest to her. Ultimately, Cal penetrates Katherine’s isolation, seeking reconciliation, an understanding of life with, and now without, their beloved Andre.

Andre’s Mother was named Outstanding Television Movie by the National Board of Review as well as winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for Terrence McNally. Directed by Deborah Reinisch (Ask Me Again, Chance of a Lifetime), Andre’s Mother also stars Sylvia Sidney (Beetlejuice, An Early Frost) and Haviland Morris (Sixteen Candles, One Life to Live).
